Why do I need to make sure my equipment fits properly?

 

Proper sized equipment, is usually fit to your body, and stays in place, which protects you to the maximum capacity , which also doesn’t move , and prevents injuries.

 

How often should I sharpen my skates?

 

Skates should be sharpened whenever you feel the edges of your blades aren’t biting the ice whenever you make turns, pivots, or simply skating.

 

Does my equipment have an expiry date?

 

Only helmets have an expiry date. The rest of the protective, is probably when you grow, switching sizes.

 

Can I wash my equipment?

 

There is a washing guide that comes with all of our equipment. Please make sure to read the pamphlets, as warranty may be voided if when washing, water stays in or equipment breaks.

 

Can my equipment wear out?

 

Equipment can wear out, but a lot of usage, as well as damage must be created in order for it too be worn out.

 

Do my skate blades need to be replaced?

 

Skate blades need to be replaced, at your discretion, whenever you turn, your holder rubs against the ice, or there is no blade left to grind when sharpening.

 

How long should my skate laces be?

 

Lace sizes are usually indicated at the back of the lace box, there are 72, 84, 96, 108, 120 inches available.

How do I know if my shin guards are the right size?

 

If you put your skate tongues in front of your shin guards, please make sure that you have a 2-finger gap from the top of your foot, and then pick 1 inch less for your pads. Better mobility, and comfort. Little bonus, the pads won’t rub against your skates and damaging the liner! If you put your pads over the skate tongues, please make sure there is a 2-finger gap from the top of your foot.

 

How do I know if my elbow pads are the right size?

 

Elbow pads are the right size when your elbow cradles into the bump of the elbow guard, and that the top protective does not rub against the shoulder pad, and the front part does not interfere with your gloves and wrist. 

 

How do I know if my hockey pants are the right size?

 

Pants must be tight at the waist, without interfering your hips movement when you stride for skating. For the length, make sure that once you are on your knees, the pants do not rub the floor, and when you are up , they must be maximum to the mid knee cap.

 

How do I tell if my shoulder pads are the right size?

 

Make sure that the shoulders are protected by the two big shoulder caps, not too big or too small, as it will interfere with your movements, and will go over your elbow pads in other cases. Make sure your shoulder pads are just over or at your belly button for the chest protection.

 

How do I tell if my neck guard is the right size?

 

Neck Guards must protect, and not feel too tight around the neck but at the same time too loose, is not useful.

 

How do I tell if my helmet and face cage fit properly?

 

Helmet must be before the eyebrows, make sure th ears are properly placed in the ear guards, it can’t fall frontwards, as the size is too big, and if too much pressure is put to the head when inserted it is too small. The chin cup must be applied on the chin, properly and not wobble, as incidents, if the cage is too loose, it can put pressure on the jaw, and push it backwards, creating concussions, etc.

 

How do I know if my jock/jill protector fit properly?

 

Jocks/jills must be tight around the waists, and protect in full , without moving , or may create discomforts, rashes, etc.
